Miami really has the chance to win a National Championship in the ACC before they win a ACC championship.

Just like the Miami Marlins, who despite never winning a division title have won two World Series

1.2k

Another Marlins fun fact is that we've made the playoffs only 3 times (COVID year doesn't count), and have 2 world series

We’ve been so bad that I kinda wish we didn’t make the playoffs those years and stayed at 100% WS/playoff appearance

Miami Hurricanes 2025/26 CFP Master Plan:

  • Wear white uniforms
  • Physically overpower opponent on both lines of scrimmage
  • Look to be in complete control of the game
  • Look up in confusion after halftime at how it's still a one score game
  • Do clutch stuff late in the 4th quarter to barely escape
  • Accept trophy and refuse to elaborate
  • Repeat

We didn't against Ohio either. If this team shows up to the championship, we are going to lose. Way too many penalties, too many missed opportunities on defense, many missed opportunities on offense with bad throws (some were DPI) and not running it, and mismanagement at the end of the first half.

Jokes aside I actually learned something interesting while Googling to find out how old he really was.

Most college athletes are on the older side of 18 and sometimes even 19 when they begin college (for example, Caleb Williams or Stetson Bennett who literally turned 20 during their freshman seasons).

Carson Beck is a late November baby which makes him always either really young or really old for his class. Well, he’s actually the former. He was 17 not only to start college but actually for most of his first year.

Don't undersell it. 3 years without even appearing in a title game. 2-8 in the CFP against the rest of the power conferences in that time. Just not very good.

Despite Miami’s best efforts. They won the game.

Yeah, it honestly was starting to feel like a random October Saturday, trying to squander away yet another game to Georgia Tech or Virginia

Honestly I don’t get how any UGA fan can have bad blood for Carson when he came back in the last play of the sec championship despite his injury. Now granted it was just a handoff, but that still takes a ton of grit. He’s still a giant weirdo, but he’s a weirdo that gave us a lot after waiting a long time to start

Unfortunately, Ole Miss can’t claim a quality loss since it would imply the ACC has quality that the SEC would never admit.

Death, taxes, teams scoring too quickly

It's crazy, I thought Miami scored too quickly, only to be followed up by Ole Miss scoring too quickly. Part of me thought that Miami let them score as quickly as they did.

Chambliss is so good I was petrified with 18 seconds left and it almost played out that way. Holy crap. I have to wake up in 5 hours for work and my heart is at 105 bpm.

Malachi Toney single handedly overcame Mario Cristobal and post October Miami. He’s THAT good.

That single handed catch was almost the nastiest play of the season save a piece of his heel

They need to have an age limit for QB’s playing in college. Every year Carson Beck plays, his eyes keep getting wider. It’s an unfair advantage being able to see the field 180 degrees from pre-snap.

I got no bad feelings toward Ole Miss. that’s a good goddamn team and I hope Chambliss gets his extra year. They caught EVERYthing. They beat Georgia. That’s a good god damn team.

u/hunghome 1d ago

And this Miami team was potentially going to be left out of the playoff.

Can’t believe Miami almost gave this away. They dropped like 4 interceptions, 2 super easy ones at that. all those dumb penalties.

This game legitimised playoff expansion.

Good for the Canes to make it all the way back, even if they can’t finish off in two weeks it won’t matter. Cristobal has brought them back to what Miami was when he played there.

The rules analyst was awful. He talked about how a hit was definitely targeting, then when they ruled no targeting, he immediately flipped and said it was a good call.

u/NukeGandhi Ole Miss Rebels • Purdue Boilermakers 1d ago

I have never seen a rules analyst that LOST. Felt like he was wrong 100% of the time.

The year is 2003. I tell everyone that once again the National Title will be Miami versus an undefeated Big 10 Team. I tell them that one side has the biggest Cinderella run in College Football Playoff History.

They scream in disbelief when I tell them Indiana or Oregon will be the B1G team. I am burned at the stake as I explain that, statistically, the Miami Hurricanes are the plucky underdogs

31

u/discowithmyself Georgia Bulldogs • Miami Hurricanes 1d ago

I love the implication that 2003 was long enough ago for burning witches at the stake lol
