Politics Bar with a Florida Sheriff’s “Platinum Level Business Member” plaque has confederate and Trump flags

u/ruinzifra 1d ago
That's a place that definitely doesn't clean its draft lines...

u/jimipotpie 1d ago
…and serves shitty drinks with bad ice in plastic cups
105
u/ruinzifra 1d ago
Their frozen margarita machine definitely hasn't had the "slush mix" changed out in 8-10 months...
41
u/jimipotpie 1d ago
The lime wedge garnishes are always a little rotten
44
u/ruinzifra 1d ago
The "bartenders" sigh when you ask them to make an actual drink. Then they reach for the "mix"...
30
u/jimipotpie 1d ago
The sewage from the filthy bathrooms drains right into the bay under the bar. Of course it stinks but “bartender” tells you the smell is just low tide
27
u/ruinzifra 1d ago
All the items on their food menu are definitely cooked by "Chef Mic".
10
u/jimipotpie 1d ago
Too good! And ½ of “Chef Mic’s” menu items are various grouper preparations but there hasn’t been a grouper fillet anywhere near the place since the ‘80’s
10
u/ruinzifra 1d ago
Oh for sure, lol. And their "Fried Alligator Bites" and definitely not alligator meat... The "chewyness" comes from their freezer that doesn't quite hit freezing temperatures...
11
u/jimipotpie 1d ago
Chef Mic mixes the shredded slaw with Sysco dressing right in the bag at 4:45 every day and then it sits conveniently located on the end of the counter for the waitresses to fill their own 2oz soufflé cups while on smoke breaks

There's a bag of water nailed over the door because "flies can't fly under water."

The beer taps and lines probably also haven't been cleaned out in the same amount of time.

Yeah, these people tend to be (over the top) pro law enforcement. What’s the revelation here?

u/_My_Niece_Torple_ 1d ago
They love 2 things. Calling themselves outlaws, and the law.
167
u/lavahot 1d ago
Well, the people who enforce the "law". They don't necessarily care about the actual law.
→ More replies (1)36
u/ReliantLion 1d ago
The only law they care about is coleslaw, extra mayo.

The duality of conservatives.

u/Cliff-Bungalow 1d ago
Yeah we're born rebels, no one tells us what we can and can't do. Our favourite things are the police, the military, and the church.

u/HighlyOffensive10 1d ago edited 1d ago
It's NOT contradictory to them. Conservatism can be boiled down to the belief that there is an in group that the law should protect but not bind and an out group that the law should bind but not protect.
I probably messed that up but basically they believe that law should protect them while allowing them to do whatever the fuck they want.
→ More replies (1)9
u/signmeupdude 1d ago
This is exactly it. You get it.
3
u/DebtUpToMyEyeballs 1d ago
Yup - on the rare occasions when the law actually tells a conservative to do something they get indignant. The law is only supposed to apply to the bad people!

u/iDislocateVaginas 1d ago
They only like the law when it’s hurting brown people. None of them liked the law on Jan. 6, 2021.

u/SinkHoleDeMayo 1d ago
They love fascism. Not hyperbole either.
It's ironic because these are the same fuckers that say "give up freedom for safety, and you deserve neither" and "don't tread on me" want everyone else under the boot.

They’re all about enforcing certain laws. What do you want to bet he doesn’t consider providing alcohol to a minor as a law that should be enforced?

u/Virtblue 1d ago
How else do you keep your liquor license, bribary has been intrinsic to the fabric of America for a long time.

Name the bar. I live in Florida. I’d love to never go there and I’d love to tell people to never go there.

I’ve been there—it’s Renegades on the River in Crescent City. You’d never end up there we were only there on a multi-day bike tour. It’s in the back of an rv park in the middle of nowhere

u/PutinBoomedMe 1d ago
This is the most Florida thing I've ever heard. FL is amazing, but there are some characters that live down there

Honestly, I don’t have the energy to be outraged that a bar in the back of an rv park in the middle of nowhere Florida has a confederate and Trump flag and friendly with the sheriff
I’m more surprised they don’t also have a swastika

Thank you. One star.

There are 2 stars on the Florida state flag. Those represent their google review.

Technically "near" Crescent City but in Fruitland. It's the old Anglers Paradise.
I grew up 3 miles from this place.

Exactly the kind of place frequented by the kind of people Trump wouldn’t want to be withering 50 yards of.
And yet, they love him.

What makes this lyric perfect at this point is all the trumpers that were playing RATM without knowing what their music is about.

It's pure Florida law enforcement graft. They are very open about it, and this is just one of the ways they accept their bribes.

u/Queasy-Meeting-5388 22h ago
It’s not like it’s an award. They got that for giving the Sheriff money.
2
u/tachudda 22h ago
Thank you, I was trying to figure out why the sheriff's office gives a fuck about a bar to even have an award to offer

If I walk in a place draped with fascist, and racist flags I would turn around and walk out.

Renegades is so nasty. We pass through there on some bikepacking trips and it’s not worth it.

I'm in favor of health inspections but the moment you choose to enter this place, you are taking on a big risk.

It'd be nice to go to a bar and have a beer without political bullshit in my face. That's the whole point of a bar, isn't it? To take a break from things.

Oof. Rip everyone in that town when the police are needed by anyone who isn’t white 😟

They should be careful I've heard these Chinese made flags are very combustible. That would be a shame.

They have the swastika flag hidden behind the bar, they only bring it out for special occasions, like football or after taking a shower

It's a bar in an RV park in the middle of nowhere, a couple hours away from Orlando. No one is going there on accident.

For anyone who wants to know.
This place is in Fruitland, Florida on the banks of the St. John's River in Putnam County. County Rd 309.
I grew up 3 miles from this place. It's the site of the old Anglers Paradise that was very popular in the 60s and 70s (the new owner has poured 100's of thousands of dollars to rehab the property).
Putnam County is one of the poorest counties in all of Florida and is a haven for MAGA and the largely disadvantaged and disillusioned. Hell, a murder happened at the Dollar General just down the road a month ago from Renegades.
This area of north central Florida voted heavily for Trump both times and was a big reason Floridas electorate went for DJT when he ran against Hillary.
I've eaten there so many times and never saw any of the confederate flags and such. Not surprising the owner is a big supporter of the Putnam Sherriffs Office. I have friends who are Deputies in the department.
