Solved! Found in bathroom
Found on top of the door in my bathroom, it has no smell (that i can detect) and is soft like a jelly bean
388
u/kaileeann 22h ago
It looks like earwax to me. Maybe see if putting some hydrogen peroxide on it causes bubbling? Then you’d know if it’s biological in origin
353
u/ShinyPelipper 22h ago
It did make a fizzing sound when i applied Hydrogen Peroxide
It is also right next to the sink, so I guess the previous owner would just clean their ear and scrape the wax off on the corner of the door. That's some animal behavior.

u/amandalaguera 20h ago
I knew someone who used to pick his blackheads then plaster them around the bathroom door frame for some unknown reason…. So, I wouldn’t put it past someone to potentially do the same with earwax. Some people are just weird, man.

u/EnvironmentalGift257 20h ago
When I was a mid-teenager I stored all my zit squeezins on the mirror and would never clean it. If I saw that today I’d wretch.

u/PointNo4171 20h ago
I’m really glad I was eating while reading this. Best way to lose weight.

That may be the least gross story of my teens I could tell🤣

u/EnvironmentalGift257 19h ago
We got a Taco Bell in town right when i turned 16 and i had buddies that worked there. You don’t want to know what’s going in your burrito if you’re rude in the drive thru.
7
u/Bridgettb76 16h ago
I worked at a Taco Bell in hs. Worst thing I did was tell the people their bill was a dollar more. That's how we got beer money. This was when TB didn't give out receipts.
2
u/Hellfire5755 9h ago
Speak for yourself I do 3 dollars today and nobody asks for the stupid receipts and the couple that do I have always say that the machine is slightly off at times

As a little kid I had a booger dresser
5
u/MarketingSpecial6604 18h ago
Ahh yes the booger farm, when I was a little boy I'd wipe them on the wall behind my bed at night, when we moved my parents saw it and dubbed it my booger farm.
2
u/GreenZebra23 18h ago
I suspect the booger wall is far more common than the booger dresser. My little brother had a booger wall a few years later. Many years ago I saw the acting siblings Elizabeth Shue and Andrew Shue on a talk show (it was actually Jon Stewart's show thar he hosted before The Daily Show, to deeply date myself), and she revealed that as a kid he had a booger wall. I felt so seen

u/Alien-intercourse 11h ago
My sister had a booger wall next to her bed and would never clean it. I’m so adverse to boogers now it’s not even funny. We shared a room.

Not as bad as that one post about the kid that picked his nose and collected the bits on his headboard or something, then months or years later ended up scraping his back on the dried bits that had calcified, giving him a seriously bad staph infection

What the hell is wrong with people? Dude would be having a serious sit down and conversation about how that isn't gonna fly. I mean come on, man. You're supposed to be a grown adult. Can we act like it a bit? Jesus.

We bought a used car and under the seat “thankfully it had a cover” we found the previous owners stash of road boogers there were so many we thought it was mold

I knew someone who stored their boogers on the wall behind their bedroom door. Some people are straight up gross.

S-i-r-i voice recognition has become SO prevalent for me these days I won’t even “type its name out loud”. I need to figure out just what settings to change to trigger it only when actually invoked!
1
u/Sea_Move_6634 17h ago
You can change it to where you have to say "hello Siri"
1
u/MicahCharlson 17h ago
Thanks. I’ve now made this change.
Now to see if it actually works. I’m trusting you know your stuff. 😁

Maintenance guy here: I've seen ceilings that looked like a cave from loogies. Ive seen toaster oven on bathroom counter with a pile of empty pie tins and forks next to a toilet. Ive seen garbage disposals clogged because the toilet was already clogged so plan b.......
People are something man.

u/WhyAreYallFascists 11h ago
Woah woah woah. You’re saying people are shitting in sinks? Wouldn’t shutting in your garbage be more effective? Holy shit.

u/Puggy_Raccoon 19h ago
They probably had a dog and this is the dog’s ear wax. My dog has chronic ear infections, so after cleaning them and him shaking his head, I have to verify nothing was flung onto our walls 😩

One time I was sitting at a light and looked over and saw a woman reaching out her window and sticking something to the side of her car. I watched for a second as she picked her nose and dug in her ears and stuck the stuff on the side of her car. There was probably a 12”x8” blob of dried excrement on her car door. Still makes me shudder when I think about it.
People are fucking weird

u/catchitclose2 16h ago
When I was a kid I’d pick my nose and wipe it under my desk, then scrape it off with a ruler after a year or so. Both were oddly satisfying.
1
u/SufficientAsk8758 16h ago
i know multiple adult men who wipe their boogers on the wall next to their bed, some earwax on the door honestly isn’t too out there

u/3lderly_Crypt1d 12h ago

I think it’s for bugs. Roaches maybe.
6
u/SgtRuy 20h ago
Yes cockroach poison! It actually works great, because they think it's food and also take some back to their nests. I helped my mom put that down a lot in our house and the instructions specifically mention to put it around door frames (I guess if the frames are not flush to the wall it becomes a good hiding spot), also maybe having up top makes it safer for pets and kids
10
u/ShinyPelipper 22h ago
Possible, the previous owers had mouse and roach problems, but ive had those cleared out for a while
But i dont know why someone would put it on top of the doorframe

As a pest control technician, this 100% cockroach gel bait. One of Maxforce's gel baits that are meant to last longer so it's commonly used as preventative maintenance. Our pest control does not like this company's product but it could get the job done for others.
4
2
u/420CowboyTrashGoblin 21h ago
It's this, I really hope you didn't actually mix it with any other cheese or consume it. iirc the way it works is that roaches take it back to their nests and it makes them infertile, so OP if you did consume it, I hope you've had all the kids you want.
3
u/Prudent_Fisherman853 19h ago
True, I managed an apartment complex and the bug guy used to put this peanut butter looking stuff in cabinets. New tenants used to be grossed out not knowing what it was and call the office to ask us to come remove and clean it until I told them what it was. Some people still wanted it gone because it was a pesticide and they did not want it next to their food or dishes.
20
u/SurrenderTheCheeks 20h ago
Previous property maintenance tech for a slumlord property manager here… that’s 100% roach bait/poison. If you’d like to confirm, also check any small cracks and crevices in the kitchen area, typically between the cabinet/countertop cutout for the refrigerator. Also very common for them to place it on hinges of cabinets if done by a professional pest control company.
2
u/Prudent_Fisherman853 19h ago
Exactly! Roaches and mice like something on their backs for protection so the usually hide behind cabinets, door frames and mice like to stay near a wall. As a ex property manager I use clear caulk to seal cabinets and ceiling and floor moldings.
2
u/buggin24k 11h ago
As a pest control technician, I agree that this is 100% roach gel bait. I hope OP is pest free.

3
u/ChocolateAW 20h ago
I had this in my kitchen!! I was going crazy, trying to get rid of them for a few years. I finally used some mold killing paint and repainted my kitchen ... they havent reappeared and its been almost 7 months!
3
u/trudat 20h ago
They won’t reappear unless someone puts it there again because it’s poison bait for cockroaches.
1
u/ChocolateAW 16h ago
That makes no sense as we built our home and havent put out cockroach bait. I'm pretty sure, in my case, it was mold. When i scratched it off and tried painting over it (without the special no more mold paint) it would reappear.
1
u/trudat 15h ago edited 15h ago
Could be, but that color and exact location is pretty consistent with bait. Do you have a pest control contract?
1
u/ChocolateAW 15h ago
Yes, we have a bug guy that comes every 2 months and have never had any sort of roach problem - we have had ants by the back door and thats it. Mine were on my walls and ceiling in the kitchen... not by doors/trim. So I am assuming the OPs may be different than what I had going on but i remember picking at it and it was an orange jelly like texture like the OP and it looked similar to that. Some larger areas and some very tiny areas.
2
u/CrypticCryptid 14h ago
You've never had a roach problem, because your bug guy takes preventative measures by using roach gel.
2
u/AutoModerator 22h ago

I've got a dog that gets really bad waxy buildup. When I give her a bath and clean her ears, she shakes and flings globs of earwax into the craziest places. Looks kinda like that.

1
u/lolmonsterlol 18h ago
It's definitely gel bait for cockroaches. I know because pest control leaves bait around my house in random places like that. Always catches me off guard.
1
u/WibbleWobble22 19h ago
I have had similar thing my bathroom too. At first I thought it was insect poop, then I noticed it only occurred after steamy showers/baths. I reached out to my landlord lord, they informed me it's one of two things: plasticizers leeching out of the paint or, in my case, it was cigarette smoke residue leeching out of walls as the previous residents were heavy, heavy smokers. It would drip out and then pool together and then dry up into little balls
1
u/tekutiaroha 16h ago
Ah definately earwax. Ild say this person has cleaned there ears, then done a quick little wipe with thier finger for last check. Instead of using the sink or wiping it off on the jeans, theyve most likely wiped it off on the door as they exit the room. Purely for convenience. Out of site, out of mind (until the next person finds it)
1
u/sadistic_tendencie 21h ago
You should DNA test that get their address and ship it there house with a bouquet with a note saying last week was great let's do it agin just to fuck with hime for leaving his ear wax in you bathroom

u/Outlander-Slut1743 21h ago
Have you had pest control come into your house for ants? Our pest control put little blobs of this stale looking stuff in random parts of the home. Window sills or door frames are common.
1
u/Negative-Neat-4269 16h ago
What tf are people picking up random bits of crap and posting them on the internet for? Just bin that shit line a normal person and go on with your life .
1
u/XIII_CLOVER 20h ago
Omg lol this is a type of jelly that's poison to roaches they put it in every corner In the house so that roach infestation can you know ... die out
1
u/TonderTales 19h ago
Advion gel looks exactly like this when it dries a bit, and it would have been dispensed in blobs this size along the edges of a bathroom
1
u/Fearless_Self6679 19h ago
Its roach bait most likely, bug people put it in my house...they use a caulk gun to apply it and they just shoot it in random spots
1
u/Trashywite 19h ago
It’s not earwax it’s roach killer you’ll see it all over like in corner above doors in crevices etc to kill roaches and bugs
1
u/Electronic-Good7174 19h ago
It is definitely roach bait injector poison. I have used it before and it looks like that after it dries. It works though 🤣

u/Opposite_Crab653 19h ago
Looks like the deposit location of an individuals snots or earwax. Simple taste test should determine which. 🫡
1
u/Humble-sealion 17h ago
It looks like what pest control puts in my apartment about once a year, the location is also typical for that
1
u/Illustrious_Drive296 21h ago
If that's earwax that's fucking nasty shit. Or it's actually shit. Either way flush it. Omg. Help me now.

Is there a way to stop reddit from putting stupid naval gazing BS on my page? I just keep banning it, blocking and say hide posts like this but it just keeps coming back. IDGAF what goop someone found, and instead of cleaning it, they need to deep dive into its origins and reasons, source it and DNA sample it. How do I stop this drivel from showing up repeatedly!?!?!?
