Our head Phys Ed teacher had not one but TWO pregnancy scandals

- He got the girl's phys ed teacher pregnant (both were single) during my senior year.

- He ALSO got a senior in my graduating class pregnant during senior year.

this second one came to light just before graduation so I have no idea how it all turned out.

We had a whole school meeting in the auditorium about these little things people were making with paperclips that snapped and felt like a bee sting when you were hit with them. Not only did it raise awareness of the thing throughout the entire school, they were stupid enough to show us how to make them and use them to inflict bee stings.

3.6k

u/Thing_On_Your_Shelf 1d ago

We had a similar thing called hornets which was just folding a small piece of paper up and then using a rubber band to shoot it at people. Would sting similar to a bee sting.

Things escaped once people started using a second rubber band and using those foil yogurt lids to make the hornets instead of paper, those could easily draw blood.

1.3k

u/JustMe1711 1d ago

My middle school made it so girls weren't even allowed to keep hairbands around their wrist because they were convinced we'd use them for hornets. They also made a rule against silly bandz for the same reason.

u/ilovemymomyeah 1d ago

This reminds me of when I was a teacher and the stupid clown hype was at its peak. The kids asked me if I’d seen any clowns creeping around and I said “oh yeah, right in the woods behind the school!” Obviously taking the piss. I can’t remember how admin got wind of this, but my vice principal at the time was one of the dumbest, most weirdly dramatic people I’d ever met. She called me into her office and said that’s a huge no no because now they have to report it as a serious threat to the campus. I was like “do you really think I saw clowns in the woods and also like what is the threat?” and she was so adamant that this was VERY SERIOUS. So this genius decides to go classroom to classroom telling the kids that NO ONE is allowed to ever talk about clowns in school again. Half the kids didn’t even know what this clown business even was. Obviously now all the kids are talking about fucking clowns and saying they saw one in the bathroom or in the street outside the school. It was such a stupid fucking mess.

These administrators never learn. Had a kid tell me recently his school banned saying “67”. These idiots just ensured that trend will last longer. Also how do you enforce a ban on saying numbers? All around stupid and setting up teachers for failure.

1.0k

u/HomerAtTheBat 1d ago

I destroyed the 6-7 thing by constantly saying it in class. Kids hate when adults do their things

440

u/Solid-Rate-309 1d ago

That’s what I was saying. Like if the principal said it during all announcements or during assembly’s in a cringy way it would end it within a week.

526

Now kids this is PCP, also known as Angel Dust and this is how and where you shouldn’t get any of it. Idk man angel dust sounds pretty fun.

328

u/TonyRobinsonsFashion 1d ago

That’s literally how they did it. 1990’s small town. They pulled drugs out of their evidence and had the kids pass the bags around so we could recognize them. Half being white powder so uhh I was like 7. What we all came away with was they sounded fun. The one drug they made seem scary and we’d have shadowy figures behind a gas station offering was fucking steroids. I’m not even sure steroids are illegal. And not like any of us were in elementary on a sports scholarship

Three kids in my high school English class were at a party and a girl from a nearby school overdosed at a party they were all at. They were scared of getting in trouble doing drugs so they waited until the morning and dropped her dead body off at the ER and ran. One of them went to juvenile jail for providing the drugs to her

2.2k

u/Ghost_of_a_Black_Cat 1d ago

I used to work in a hospital and these things actually happened more times than I can count. Usually in the dead of night, though.

Young person, definite OD, no ID, and...all you can do is haul them inside and proceed as best you can. :(

Situations like this have led to laws being passed that absolve the people calling for help from liability.

u/yuki_the_god07 1d ago

Firefighter here. These laws are effective enough the police show up and can have full conversations about the OD with the patient while the patient knows they’re free from any prosecution

It’s called the “Good Samaritan” Law. When I was still in active addiction I was hanging out at my dealers house and a girl overdosed. There was a house full of people and they all scattered like roaches (including the guy who was having sex with her during said o.d.). Only my girlfriend (Now wife of 5 years) and I stayed. We took turns doing chest compressions and called 911. I did go to jail for a previous charge but only for a week. However the detective that gave me the Good Samaritan paperwork definitely was implying it would only work if I snitched (I didn’t) but i am pretty sure it must have worked because I received no further charges.

Several teachers refused to give football players any grade below an A. It got caught when one of the players noticed that he had missed 3 questions on a 20 question quiz and asked the teacher, in front of hte class, why is grade was so high.

1.3k

u/bigwangersoreass 1d ago

My locker was searched once in high school and they found several empty beer cans. Thankfully we had a football game after school and the principal just told me that I wouldn’t be in trouble because of how important football was to our school.

u/EmceeCommon55 22h ago

We had these two kids fighting in the cafeteria in high school. One kid was a "gang member" or whatever. Our principal was a beloved dude, easily 6'4" and 300+ lbs. He whooped this kid so bad after the kid hit him in the face. I witnessed this entire altercation 10-20 feet in front of me. Kid got expelled, principal kept his job. RIP Principal Butler

I think i told this story somewhere on reddit before, but anyway....

Our principal at the time was a cool dude. Big supporter of the arts programs, super involved with everyday operations. Dude spent more time in the halls and classrooms with teachers and students than in his own office. We'll the head of the school board hated this our principal . Apparently they would have screaming matches at school board meetings.

One of the teachers reported one of the vice principals of sexual harassment and possible stalking after hours. The same day our principal learned about it, the school board head did too. He decided the principal was not taking it seriously enough and pretty much forced him into early retirement. This was seriously messed up cause he was the sole provider for his terminally ill wife and was apparently like a year away from reaching some goal he had planned for her (never found out if he made it happen).

Well the day we learned, he gave this 10 minute super passionate speech over the intercom, not about his termination, but how about how much he believed in all of us. Dude had teachers crying mid day. After it was done, none of the teachers kept up with the day. They all rushed to the office to figure out what was happening. No one taught any lessons, just straight up started telling the students all the drama above. Apparently 4 teachers just straight up packed their stuff and walked out. 2 or 3 others handed in a proper resignation by the end of the week.

Now in the same day, a different vice principal was in the middle of expelling a student, parents and a resource officer in the meeting. That ended up boiling over and the student and her dad started fighting the resource officer. I swear they had every cop in the county swarm the school cause they ended up having to hog tie both the girl and her dad. The day ended a bit earlier with officers escorting each individual class room the the school buses to leave.

Edit: ive always been a lurker on here (hence the low karma) thank you for my first ever awards for talking about my old high school! Definitely don't miss it, but it makes for good stories 😅

On my last day of senior year, the guys in my grade brought in water balloons. One of them told the vice principal that he had “plastic explosives” in his backpack and refused to let him look when asked. The school went into bomb threat mode and all of us were made to go home early.

833

u/INFP4life 1d ago

What a fucking asshole. One kid in my high school thought it would be funny to wear a shirt that said “BOMB” on it to the airport for a school trip, which delayed our departure by an hour. He too was a fucking asshole.

316

u/rpbm 1d ago

One of my classmates had enlisted early in the military. Everything finalized but the diploma. Last week or so of school, he brought cherry bombs and told someone who ratted. He ended up expelled, not graduating, and the military no longer wanted him.

Which in retrospect, you’d think they could use someone comfortable with explosives…

Staff faculty took a student to prom as a date

1.4k

u/elephant35e 1d ago

My HS (and I think all other high schools in the district) had a rule that students couldn't take anyone over 20 to the prom. Seems like your school was far less strict.

666

u/CumChunks8647 1d ago

Oh my junior prom would have been a problem. I took a 22 year old with me to prom cause I had a crush on her, and we worked together.

Our senior prom had a hot teacher, and she got asked to prom by so many guys, and a few girls, that the principal had to make an announcement that students could not ask faculty to prom.

Heard a couple girls asked the hot guy teacher to prom too, but I didn't have his class so didn't see it.

We had a cop sleep with a high school girl at a football game in the parking lot which was like a field. We had a football coach got a girl he taught highchool classes to pregnant afer she turned 18. Like a 20 year age gap. Pretty sure he didn't stay in the relationship after.

1.4k

u/ChocolateCoveredGold 1d ago

Winnsboro, TX H.S. just had a coach knock up a student when she turned 18. Of course, the relationship had been going on for awhile. The whole school district knew. The district superintendent fired the school resource officer (the cop assigned to the high school) because he cooperated with the Texas Rangers (as he was required to do, by law) when they showed up to do their investigation. It gets worse the more you look into the story.

This was 2025.

393

u/KirkimusMaximus 1d ago

20-ish years ago in that same Winnsboro one of the Ag teachers quit right at the end of a school year and married one of the students. She had turned 18 and graduated. They swear nothing happened before she turned 18. So this has happened before. Say Chocolate… 20 years ago, the resource office was Officer Glover. I’m sure he retired before this scandal.

171

u/ProfSquirrel25 1d ago

The age of consent wouldn’t apply to the case with educators/mentors, someone in position of authority, or having custody…groomers can’t get away if the other side speaks up. But it’s up to state laws too. It might be different from state to state

121

u/ChocolateCoveredGold 1d ago

You are absolutely right. You should see the comments on the Winnsboro Facebook groups, though. People keep complaining that the coach is being treated unfairly, because the girl was over 18. 🤮

They really like the fact that he was a good football coach.

One student killing another at a house party.

A teacher was accused of sexually assaulting a student. The teacher was under investigation and was placed on leave while the investigation was ongoing. The son of the teacher was angry about his dad being accused of this, so he showed up to a house party where the assault victim was. Her boyfriend came to the front door instead so the teachers son stabbed him to death.

Because they were of different races the school staff was worried that this would be seen as a racial issue. By coincidence, this was the time that Remember the Titans came out, so the school set up a massive field trip for the entire student body to go see the film in the theater. I had just moved to the town when all of this happened and felt very much out of the loop since I didn’t know anyone involved, but my classmates were really invested in the issue.

Kids used a keylogger to capture a teacher login to the online grading system. They started charging kids to change their grades in certain classes they had access to. Eventually, a teacher noticed some of the grades changed and alerted administration. Police were involved, it ended up being a pretty big deal. The kids behind it were pulled out of the school system before they could be expelled.

Pretty sure they went on to Ivy league schools, some of which praised them for their clever discovery.

My school didn't have anyone that well versed in coding to teach a class. They found out when the students complained that they knew the entire curriculum already. They got A's every year for that class and it counted because they taught the teacher in those years.

They did routinely make secret partitions on the network with multiplayer games like Quake that everyone in computer class would play and fight against each other in. That was awesome. The teachers were just happy they didn't do anything crazy.

One of the teachers was behaving very inappropriately towards his female students. We at the school newspaper wrote a story about it. It was censored by the principal. The journalism teacher argued that our paper was a forum for student expression and could not be censored by the school. The principal disagreed. There was a big hubbub about it and in the end the story didn't run. The teacher in question was also the town sheriff, so that might have had something to do with it.

437

u/Crazy_Ad_91 1d ago

Very common in more rural parts, at least from what I know in Texas. Especially for very small towns or unincorporated areas that share school districts with other similar communities. Theres not a need for a large or constant police presence so the officers and the like have other jobs with in the community.

I got a speeding ticket in one of those small towns along a highway where it goes 70,55,40,35,30 in the span of like 60’ so I got nabbed for “speeding” thru town. I have to call in to the local judge to get the process rolling and could never get ahold of anyone and no call backs. I finally go desperate as my 90 day window was coming to a close and I called a random business next door to the court house and explain my situation to the SWEETEST old lady. She said “oh honey, the judge is also the local mortician and that business keeps him busier than the courthouse so just call down there and he’ll take care of you. Call me back if he doesn’t answer and I’ll walk out and find him for you.”

I call the funeral home and he answers and sure enough he’s the judge I’ve been looking for. He says he’ll call me back from his chambers. Five minutes later he does call me back in his much more serious judge voice. He ends up throwing out my ticket and just warns me to slow down next time I come through town. I honestly think he just didn’t want to fart with the paperwork as it was likely on him to handle.

Our vice prinicipal used our schools fundraising money that was for extracurriculars, dances, new equipment, etc.. and bought a dozen fancy custom embroidered jackets for themselves and a select few of the faculty. Apparently each jacket was +$400 due to the complexity of embroidering the school's logo onto the back, as well as personalized names.

None of the other staff knew they were doing this, or that they had used the school's event money for it. Some teachers who were gifted these jackets were horrified, they didn't want this.

He didn't get into any work trouble. Some teachers kept and wore their jackets, we had less events that year. Parents, students, and other staff were dismayed but ultimately powerless to punish him.

131

u/Particular-Beat-6645 1d ago

That's a culture killer right there. The jackets are the death knell, though.

We had a real tight knit bunch in our building that were in charge of all the fun stuff. Teachers they didn't like weren't extended invitations to help; students they didn't like weren't "elected" to student government. Game attendance was always poor and pep rallies were generally deflated. People called out a lot for days we had staff meetings.

My favorite way to explain it was "I just work in a high school, some people around here are still in high school."

almost the same thing happened at my high school. popular jock died, we had a whole class field trip to his funeral, got lunch catered for the whole school and had a day in school with no classes at all. they even built and named a basketball court in his name. other kid died of cancer that he’s been fighting since he was in 3rd grade. we took a “moment of silence” and that was it bruh. insane.

- Several students from the same family didn't feel like writing June exams and burned my elementary school down nearly 50 years ago

- Grade 6 teacher was a pedophile who would invite boys to his house to molest them - I was one of the ones he tried to invite, never went; he also would barge in when male students were changing and tell them to 'hurry up'.

- High School art teacher went to jail for grooming and molesting a female student, starting when she was 13.

- Local High School teacher forced into retirement after posting dick picks to a public social media account

- all in a Midwestern town

Junior year, we found out that my grade’s “faculty advisor” (teacher who helped the class’s student government with fundraisers, event planning, etc) stole all the money our class had spent three years raising for our senior year (prom, a graduation party, senior class trip, yearbooks, etc). Nothing happened because the money didn’t technically belong to the school district, and we weren’t allowed to get a new faculty advisor for some reason I can’t remember.

Not only do you risk clogging the toilet if it manages to go down, but an even worse case is if it sits there, not being able to go down. Technically my fault. In middle school I had a bit of a problem with being bullied by classmates so after watching Deathnote (movie) I decided to make my own. Bought a journal and wrote classmates names and how I’d like them to die, but never showed it to them. I kept it to myself and never brought it to school. Until I did. One day I accidentally grabbed it thinking it was a different book and brought it to school. I went out to the water fountain and when I came back some kids were snooping through my backpack and came across the book. From the 5 minutes I was gone the entire classroom saw that most if not all of their names were in my Deathnote.

Long story short: since I never acted upon this and only wrote about in my free time outside of school, I wasn’t severely punished. However I still went into counseling and no one ever bothered me again.

112

u/Busy_Professional974 1d ago

I got my shit pushed in by a group of bullies after I made videos making fun of them in retaliation to them picking on me for 10 straight years without consequence and somehow I ended up getting detention while my face was still fucked up as hell for making the videos, the bullying mentioned in the videos or me getting my ass beat was never addressed.

An English teachers younger sister was killed by a drunk driver. Shortly after she tearfully told her classes ( juniors / seniors) that if ANYONE was ever at a party and needed a ride home because they were drunk… they could call her. She would pick them up no matter the time and take them home safely.

A month or so passed and somebody took her up on the offer. When word got back to school that a student had been drunk, the admin demanded she rat out who it was so they could be properly punished. She refused and was fired.

Another teacher was fired when he was seen by a few male students entering a strip club one Saturday night. He was fired for immorality, though the admin never questioned what those guys who saw him there were doing there. All of their parents were pretty heavy donors to the school.

66

u/Busy_Professional974 1d ago

Damn that English teacher is badass. Bullshit she got fired.

955

u/Takhar7 1d ago

Really popular male teacher - early 30s, everyone's best friend - was sleeping with female students in his classroom on his desk. His door had a lock and a garbage bag over the door slit window, which we all found weird. He said it helped him focus when marking.

Eventually one of the girls grades were so bad that her parents started questioning her about it, and she basically confessed that her mental health was in the dumps because the teacher was sleeping with her, without protection, multiple times a week.

Once the school found out, the teacher was placed on leave, and all of a sudden all these other girls came forward as victims (privately, but scuttle spread quickly across the school). Must have been 8 or 9 in total by the end - turns out he was having sex / having them perform sex acts with multiple different students.

Was quickly charged and convicted after a guilty plea.

We were all stunned, because he was everyone's fav teacher - including mine. I had endless conversations with the guy about sports and TV shows and movies and all sorts. I know some of my friends opened up to him about various different things too. Just super trustworthy in so many of our eyes.

So we were shocked when the rumors started floating around, and to be honest, I remember being in denial thinking it just wouldn't make sense for someone like that, to be doing the things he was accused of doing, during school hours while all of us were in the building. No chance at all.

Eventually the school sat us all down in the main gym, and told us that he was going to be placed on leave, and that the school would be communicating officially over the coming weeks. That's when I realized "holy shit, this isn't just white lies and rumors".

It was something we all wanted to discuss, but something none of us were comfortable discussing - to this day, I'm pretty sure I know at least half of the victims (1 girl left, another took some time away, and there were 2 others that were in his office a lot that were in many of my classes). It's just horrifying thinking that it was going on right under our noses, to classmates and friends, and we were none the wiser.

I was the controversy. I was in high school when the first couple school shootings happened, and being a strange child they were so worried about me doing something dirty so they threw me in a class with an undercover cop. By the time I left high school most of the other kids in that class were arrested (one of the kids got arrested on a murder charge which felt super bonkers). My junior year the school requested I drop out. I had trouble with a lot of the teachers, they didn’t like me and it was noticeable. So I took the suggestion, dropped out and went in to get my g.e.d with an A- avarage. Went to college, and graduated with a B average. It’s insane that they tried to pin me as being a problem, when the real problem was how I was treated.

Saw that cop that ran the class after graduating college the first time and he was surprised I wasn’t dead.

151

u/Malikhi 1d ago

I was also targeted as I was the lonely, quiet, goth kid that wore a trench coat in school when Columbine happened. It never got better after that.

But they went as far as to accuse me of things I didn't do. They tried to expell me for setting a desk on fire when there was never any damage to my desk in the first place. (I was super bored and flicking my lighter like kids these days would do with a fidget toy).

Another time the students created a rumor that I stabbed the shop teacher because he and I argued one day, then he wasn't there the next day, and then when he was back the next day he and I went back to having lunch at the same table because we actually got around really well. He was one of the only teachers that encouraged my imagination. The rumors to two weeks to dissipate somehow...

One of the administrators actually said, to my face, that I was being targeted because I fit the profile of someone that didn't belong and she wouldn't rest until she gotten rid of me. Too bad I could never prove it, it was her word against mine.

Anyway, I ended up getting expelled for skipping my 10th grade History class because that teacher harassed me and embarrassed me constantly. So i stopped going. I ended up getting my GED in another county, scored a solid A, and then went on to become a Master mechanic with a background in engineering (some school but not enough to finish my bachelor's. Time issues).

The male History teacher that tried hooking up with a female student, was cleared like two years later, came back for like 2 months just to retire. Then there was the two math teachers who were each married but hooking up in the classroom with shades drawn. Some of the boys on the high school football team were caught doing weed. The rest of the geniuses on the football team thought they could get their friends out of trouble by having the ENTIRE team admit to doing weed.

The school stood by their principles and kicked all them off the football team. The JV team had to step in for the rest of the season and lost every game.

Me, as a yearbook kid, found this hilarious.

120

u/justheretowhackit_ 1d ago

We had a couple of big ones. Both at my high school.

History teacher/football coach got caught having sexual relations with a girl on the cheerleading team. It was a really big thing around the school for a long time. The teacher had just gotten married to one of our guidance counselors not even a few months ago, and then he got caught doing that. He was fired, the counselor quit, and the girl (who was quite popular before all of this) got bullied so hard she moved schools.

Second one was our assistant principal getting caught fucking the school nurse during school hours. He also was cheating on his wife (they also had two or three young kids) by doing this. Same assistant principal who basically told me I would amount to nothing, and now he is still suffering from his divorce all these years later; oh, AND he got caught in a pyramid scheme and lost a shitload of money trying to recoup some finances from the divorce. Fuck you, Mr. Dillard.

493

u/EducationalSet3738 1d ago

I was sent to a Christian private high school, so it was whenever some girl got pregnant.

I also caused a very behind-the-scenes controversy among the school's staff by refusing to sign an abstinence pledge in class. I told the teacher, in the most polite way possible, that what I do is not anyone's business and that they can kindly fuck off.

235

u/Duffarum 1d ago

Similar story here! I also refused to sign an abstinence pledge and got in trouble for it.

Whenever we had a girl get pregnant, she would be quickly expelled. The boys never were. We were told that it was easy to prove the girl was a whore because the pregnancy. However, the only ‘proof’ against the boy was the word of said whore…. And everyone knew you couldn’t trust what girls claimed. No need to ruin a young man’s life over that.

Florida here--wearing flipflops to school became very fashionable among the guys but the administration didn't like something about it and declared an end to shoes that didn't attach to the ankle, for our "safety".

This inadvertently ended up (technically) disqualifying many gals' shoes that had up until that point been no sort of dress code problem. We flipfloppers had our crusade to make the rules apply to both sexes and in the end everyone just gave up trying to enforce the rule and feet freedom was had for all. I went to a boring school

I lived in a small town so it was difficult to get new teachers. So for example one teacher was couple of times drunk at work but the principal couldn't fire him because it would have been too difficult to find a replacement teacher. Another teacher had difficulties to do his work because he was too addicted to Windows Solitaire - the principal asked the coputer class treacher to uninstall the Solitaire from his work computer but couple of days later the teacher had found a computer nerd student who installed the Solitaire back to his computer. It was late 1990's so it was more difficult for the school staff to know how to install and uninstall software.

All 3 principals at my school had to step away from their positions for different reasons to the point where a substitute principal had to close out the final 3 months of school.

The first vice principal was removed for being caught on a hot mic calling the cheerleading team a bunch of strippers during a school pep rally.

The second one had to leave her position mid-year due to a medical issue that was likely going to have her out of her position the rest of the year.

However during their recovery, it got out that the principal and the second vice principal had an affair, resulting in both losing their respective positions at the school.

School had terrible windows. Dangerous. One kid goes over to the windows leaned on it slightly, the entire window with frame fell out, came crashing down to the schoolyard below. The teacher yelled at him for being clumsy. Teacher headed to the windows to see if anyone below got hurt (it was from the second floor, so not as bad as it could have been). The the teacher leaned in the next window to see the damage, and cause that one to fall out too.  Mind you we'd complained to engineering about the condition of the windows all year. Were told not to worry about it.  Next day all windows were boarded up building wide. And contractors were then brought in to replace them all.
